This piece is dipped in a slip made from wild clay foraged along the banks of Colombia's Magdalena River. When fired, this sediment transforms into an unexpected surface that is simultaneously matte and metallic, catching light more like a mineral than a ceramic. Rather than a conventional glaze, the Colombian clay acts as a thin skin of regional origin laid over a form built from reclaimed studio stoneware. Because each batch of recycled clay carries its own unique history, no two pieces are ever quite the same.
